The call for projects 2014 was a great success: with 355 projects from 40 countries, a new record was set
We can observe that all the A/V industry sectors are impacted by crossmedia strategies
For the first time this year, the call for projects was organized into categories :
- "Cinema & Transmedia", in partnership with the Marché du Film of Cannes collected 19% of the projects. The four best projects will have the opportunity to pitch on Saturday May 17th, 4 pm at the Palais des Festivals,
- "Webdocs" in partnership with Sunny Side of the Doc collected 24% of the projects,
- "Webseries" collected the biggest amount of projects with 28% of submissions,
- "Crossmedia TV Shows" collected 8% of the projects,
- "Education, Animation and Youth" in partnership with the French studio KNIGHTWORKS collected 10% of the projects,
- And finally, the "Others" category and its hybrid projects collected 11% of the projects.
Those results show some clear trends.
On the one hand, the diversity of formats, production companies and countries involved proves the global nature of the phenomenon.
On the other hand, digital and crossmedia strategies are now impacting all formats and genres of the A/V industry: cinema, TV, Web, fictions, documentaries, animation, education programs, youth, news,…
Lastly, as often when speaking about audiovisual entertainment, France appears at the forefront of these narrative and production changes at work leading to a new multi-platform economy.
To illustrate this daring French creativity, the Cross Video Days chose Alexandre Brachet, founder of Upian, as Grandmaster of this 5th edition.
