Daily lives at the gates of the European Union Through an interactive online documentary, Portraits de frontières offers a series of portraits of local residents and border workers, reflecting the unique activities at the gates of the European Union. We observe among these people the influence of the border in their profession and their personal history. These encounters allow us to compose a complex and subjective portrait of the daily life on the eastern border of the European Union, five years after its last extension. Through them we see emerge local conditions specific to each region but also common problems in border areas. We explore the areas around three border crossings: Kapikule, between Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria Terespol, between Poland, Belarus and Ukraine Vaalimaa, between Finland and Russia.
