Kick back, pull up a shell and feel the sand between your toes – you’re on iLand
Our story is set in a future where rising sea levels have covered most of the land creating two small neighbouring islands:
iLand is the epitome of an idyllic, exotic paradise. Its carefree inhabitants co-exist in peace and harmony with nature and spend their days having fun, spontaneously breaking into song and discovering new and exciting objects washed up on the beach. Each episode will feature a different washed-up object, which will create a new challenge/adventure for the iLanders. This will compliment their blissful existence grounded in low-fi resourcefulness, recycling and community. The iLanders are largely laid back and easy going early teens. They love to have fun but also take responsibility for their individual roles in the group and treat their unspoilt environment with respect.
In direct contrast xLand is an overpopulated, overdeveloped island that is run by Queen Sinistasia. It is highly mechanised, drained of resources and, due to its alarming levels of pollution, shrouded in a thick veil of smog. With its technology gone haywire it’s like a tiny Bladerunner world. Unsurprisingly the robotic natives of xLand, communicating solely through frustrated bleeps and squawks, are an unhappy bunch. Having greedily squandered their island’s natural reserves the mechanical inhabitants are constantly attempting to invade iLand or steal its bountiful resources. Fortunately their dastardly yet hare-brained schemes constantly fall flat either due to their own ineptitude or being unwittingly thwarted by the oblivious iLanders.
